…isn’t so odd really. It starts with me trying to pin down one of my many ridiculous ideas and actually putting it in to practice. Usually the simpler the better, but as you may have seen… it’s not always simple. haha.
Here’s a little photo series showing the process I went through to get the finished product of our Bear Baseball Tee.
Shapes begin to form in the ink
Detail brings life to the image
The images, once completed get scanned and go through a final bit of digital processing to bring the best out of the image. Some lines are thickened or added, highlights etc are created…. to really give the finished piece that extra dimension.
The bottom line to any good shirt is you need to have a solid idea, and the ability to achieve that idea. The bottom line to this shirt is… bears are awesome and I wanted to draw a good one.

So… Strange Clothing Co is a bit more than just some new boutique clothing company.
From the unique mixture of influences (ranging from the dark to the absurd) down to each and every line on every print being drawn by my hand. (First in pencil… then in ink.) One could call it more of an extension of my personality than just a clothing company.
When I decided to start this journey last year, I wanted to make something that was more than just… a cool name printed on some shirts. There are LOADS of those companies. Possibly too many.
The interesting thing that I could offer was something with a unique aesthetic all drawn in MY style. It’s because of this that I don’t think Strange Clothing Co's style can really be replicated.
I’ve been a commercial illustrator for a long time now and I’ve drawn work for everyone from Dr Pepper to University Economics textbooks to the indie barber shop down the road, and I think it’s given me a really good perspective on what I like to see from businesses. Hopefully that’s something that I can show to you all about Strange Clothing Co.
